IKEA’s SOLVINDEN apple-shaped outdoor lamp, released in 2015 as part of its “Summer in the City” collection, has been discontinued and is now a secondhand-market find. Hunker reports that pre-owned examples typically sell for about $45 to $55, though availability and condition vary.

IKEA’s SOLVINDEN apple-shaped outdoor lamp, released in 2015, has become a secondhand-market find after the retailer discontinued it, according to a report by Hunker. The solar-powered LED lamp appeared in the company’s “Summer in the City” collection, and Hunker reports that pre-owned examples typically sell for about $45 to $55 on resale platforms.

The lamp was sold in green and white and designed to resemble an apple. Its solar-powered LED light and distinctive shape set it apart from conventional outdoor lanterns, making it a decorative option for patios, balconies and garden gatherings. IKEA introduced it as part of a seasonal collection rather than a permanent range.

Hunker says shoppers may come across the lamp at thrift stores, flea markets or garage sales, but suggests online resale marketplaces may offer more opportunities to find one. The report names eBay and Mercari as places where listings appear. Prices cited by Hunker are approximate, not a guaranteed selling price or a verified value for every lamp.

Condition, completeness and whether the solar components still work can affect the usefulness of a secondhand example. The source does not provide a listing count, sales database or condition breakdown for the cited price range. Buyers should check individual listings carefully and confirm the lamp’s size, operating condition and included parts with the seller.

A Discontinued Lamp Finds New Life

The lamp’s appeal reflects a familiar feature of IKEA’s seasonal catalogue: products can disappear from stores even while shoppers continue seeking their distinctive designs. For people who want this particular apple-shaped outdoor light, the discontinued status shifts the search from regular retail to secondhand sellers and local resale venues.

The reported $45 to $55 range gives prospective buyers a rough point of reference, but it should not be treated as an official valuation. A listing price does not establish what an item ultimately sells for, and a working lamp may differ in value from one with missing parts or a failed solar panel. The practical takeaway is that availability and condition matter as much as the design.

From 2015 Seasonal Collection

IKEA released the SOLVINDEN apple lamp in 2015 as part of “Summer in the City,” a seasonal collection. The original report says IKEA has since retired that line. Seasonal ranges are replaced as the retailer updates its catalogue, so a product’s disappearance from current stores does not by itself establish how many units were made or how rare they are today.

Hunker describes the lamp as a solar-powered LED outdoor floor lamp offered in two colors. Its report frames it as a sought-after thrift find, but does not cite IKEA sales figures, production numbers or a formal collector market. The claim that it is rare should therefore be understood as a description of its reported secondhand availability, not a measured estimate of scarcity.

“Pre-owned lamps typically sell from around $45 to $55.”

Availability and Condition Vary

It is not clear how many SOLVINDEN apple lamps remain in circulation, how frequently they appear in thrift shops or how many online listings are active at a given time. Hunker does not cite production totals or marketplace sales data to measure the item’s scarcity.

The reported price range also leaves open whether it refers to asking prices, completed sales or a mix of both. Individual listings may differ in condition, color and included components, and the source does not confirm the performance of any particular lamp. IKEA’s current product availability is not detailed beyond the report’s statement that the seasonal collection was retired.

Where Shoppers Can Look

Anyone looking for the lamp can check local thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales, while also searching resale marketplaces such as eBay and Mercari. Because listings can change, buyers should compare current offers rather than assume the cited range reflects every market or condition.

Before purchasing, shoppers can ask sellers for clear photos and details about the lamp’s condition, solar charging and included parts. No new IKEA release or return to the SOLVINDEN range is reported. The next development for buyers is likely to be individual resale listings appearing or selling, rather than a confirmed retail relaunch.
